Congrats to Force 91 Girls and Force 92 Girls for repeating as State Cup Champs! May 06, 2010
FORCE 91 GIRLS

The De Anza Force 91 U18 Girls team accomplished something that few Northern California teams have achieved, winning their third consecutive Cal North State Cup Championship. Curtis McAlister, the 91's head coach commented, "the 91 Force group did a great job of embracing an opportunity to leave their own mark on youth soccer in the area by being one of few teams to win three consecutive State Cup Championships. The girls should be proud of their accomplishment."
The Force 91 beat the San Ramon Shock 2-1, a long time rival in the Golden State Soccer League. The Shock was the first team to score a goal against the Force 91's in this year's State Cup as both teams battled each other and 20 mph winds at the Morgan Hill Soccer Complex. The Force scored first in the 8th minute when Kirsten Belinksy, Junior at Mountain View High School and verbally committed to Brown University, received the ball from Chelsea Braun, Senior at Woodside High School heading to UCLA next year, at the top of the 18 box. Kirsten then one touched a rocket into the upper right 90.
The second half started 1-0 Force with the Shock getting the wind advantage. The Shock scored 7 minutes into the half to tie the game 1-1. Force Senior, Erika Hoglund at Palo Alto High School and headed to Princeton this fall, fought through two defenders and the Shock goal keeper to shoot the winning goal in the 67th minute. The two teams battled each other to the very end with the Force holding on for their third consecutive State Cup Championship win.
McAlister added, "the Final versus San Ramon Shock was a very even game. I thought both teams were competitive and determined. Both teams had chances to score and I am hoping that anyone watching would have been on the edge of their seat."
FORCE 92 GIRLS
The Force 92 Girls, defending National Champions, repeated as NorCal State Cup Champs. They won 2-0 against Santa Rosa in the final, after having beat Mustang in the semifinal 2-0, and Rage in the quarterfinal. Emily Kruger had two shutouts in the semifinal and final.
Against Santa Rosa, the Force played a physical team, but won the battle. Brianne Medved was taken down in the box and converted the penalty kick. Then Alesha Blair had one of many breakaways in the game and slotted home a goal. The Force had many chances, but feel proud to have moved on to Regionals in Albuquerque in June.
GOOD LUCK AT REGIONALS IN JUNE! GO FORCE!
