Force 91 Girls Win 2008 CYSA State Cup Championship
The U16 Force 91 Girls, coached by Owen Flannery, beat Pleasanton Rage Premier 2-0 to claim their first State Cup title.  The win sends the team to the USYS Regional's to be played in Honolulu, Hawaii in June.

The game was decided early when midfielder Stephanie Woo delivered a through ball to forward Monique Rootsaert who scored the first goal in the games fifth minute.  Three minutes later Woo crossed the ball in front of the Rage goal where Cici Kobinski and Lizzy Weisman combined to knock the ball into the goal.

The State Cup title caps a great year for the 91's as they won the US Club National Cup Regional's last June, attended the US Club National Finals in Greensboro, North Carolina, and the Surf Cup in San Diego.

Good luck to the Force 91 girls team and to our Force 95 boys team who are also attending the USYS Regional's as a wild card team in the U13 age group.

Director of Coaching Changes

The De Anza Force Soccer Club would like to take this opportunity to thank Adrianne Fass for her many years of service to the Club as its Director of Coaching for the girls program. Adrianne, a recent mother of her first child, has decided to give up the reins of the Girls Directorship so that she can dedicate time to her daughter Addison. We would like to commend her for this tough but admirable decision, and wish her well in her new role as Mommy.

We are pleased to inform you all that Adrianne will continue in her capacities as Head Coach of the 94 and 90 girls teams, and as the current Vice President of the Board of Directors.  These roles will continue to be benefited under the care of Ms. Fass’ ongoing leadership.

Jeff Baicher will now step up to the job of Girls Director in addition to the role of Boys Director that he has filled for the past five years. We are excited to provide the very best in Club Direction under the apt leadership capabilities of Mr. Baicher. Club members will enjoy the added benefit of one single person as the go-to guy for all Club directorial responsibilities.

Jeff's role as the Boys and Girls director is effective immediately. “My focus for 2008 is to start building the Girls program in preparation for potentially moving into the United States Development League in 2009. We are already enjoying the advantage of this most visible of all soccer programs for our elite Boys, and have every intention of pursuing the same for the Girls in our Club. The De Anza Force has its roots in the Girls side of soccer, and I want to stay true to those original ideals during the Force Club’s formative years.”

The De Anza Force Soccer Club looks forward to many great years as the program continues to expand and improve for all of its 500+ members.

The Force & Union FC Outline Progressive Plans for Future Collaboration
January 16, 2007

Two of Northern California's most progressive Youth Soccer clubs today announced a collaboration effective immediately. The objectives for both The Force (based in Cupertino, Ca) & Union FC (based in Palo Alto, Ca) clubs involve cooperative Coaching Clinics & Program's designed to attract and advance the region's talent.

Both clubs are Nationally recognized for their outstanding staff of Professional Coaches. Cooperation to the club Presidents is nothing new. Both The Force and Union FC are members of 'US Club Soccer' and are also collaborating with the regions official 'US Club Soccer' sanctioned league, 'Norcal Premier' league, directed by Benjamin Ziemer. 'Norcal' has recently hosted coaches from European powerhouses PSV Eindhoven, FC Porto, Liverpool FC.

Club President's Jeff Baicher of The Force & Gary Ireland of Union FC are exploring ways to develop the region's enormous potential and see US Club Soccer as the future of the youth game.

In a joint statement, the two Club President's agreed to "work closely together to improve the quality of youth football locally, regionally and nationally", adding, "we both feel that by combining our Pro coaching resources, and implementing a program for top class youth development, we can then compete vigorously at the National level. Also, several oportunities exist to partner with high profile European Clubs leading to fabulous opportunities for players and there is talk of a possible World Class sponsor."
